Since 2017, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have provided £2.3 million of support through Postcode Support Trust which has helped Re-engage introduce new services and bolster existing ones. 

Lisa Belletty is Health and Wellbeing Advisor at People’s Postcode Lottery and has worked closely with our fundraising team since the long-term partnership began five years ago. Here she describes why she finds Re-engage so inspiring. 

“We know that loneliness among older people is a big problem so we looked for dynamic charities which were working in interesting ways in this area. We loved the way Re-engage builds connections within communities, bringing older people together. And it’s been a privilege to see how you have developed and adapted over the years. 

“There are so many wonderful things about Re-engage but I think one of the most rewarding  is that you are always trying to change things, to reach older people in different ways. You were brave in introducing rainbow call companions and courageous in the way you managed to keep connections and commitments to older people during the pandemic. That is very uplifting.” 

Since 2005, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £1 Billion for charities and good causes.

“We love working with you because you make a tangible difference to the lives of older people,” added Lisa. “We believe the charities we work with are the experts in their field so they tell us what they would like to do. 

“We held one of the tea parties at our head office in Edinburgh recently and it was a really joyous occasion. And I went to another one in Cramond, on the edge of the city, which was fantastic. It was such an inter-generational event with younger people, family pets and even someone who had been re-settled from the Ukraine. The cross-over of knowledge from different generations was really fascinating. You begin to learn the experiences of older people who may have been through some extremely difficult times. 

“Re-engage brings these things together and does such valuable work that we love being associated with the charity.”
