Re-engage tea party host, Marigold really does show that you are never too old to volunteer.
Marigold will be 95 in November and still makes tea, sandwiches and cake for guests in her group in Nairn, Scotland.
Marigold, who has 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, has volunteered for Re-engage for around eight years. Before that she did tea trolley duties for the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service at her local hospital for 40 years as well as running a local branch of Save the Children.
“I really enjoy hosting the tea parties,” she said. “ I can still make the sandwiches and so on because I can sit down while I’m doing it.
“The group is about eight strong and they are very friendly. This sort of thing keeps me going.”
Around 10% of Re-engage volunteers are aged between 75 and 84 and there are a handful who, like Marigold, are in their nineties.
Sally Flowers, head of service delivery, said: “We have volunteers of all ages from 18 upwards and every one of them does an incredible job of helping us combat loneliness and isolation among older people. You really are never too old to donate a little time to help others – and you'll also get a great deal of satisfaction by doing so. If you can help please join us now.”

Gentle activity groups: it’s nice exercise and a bit of fun
Annette tells us about the benefits she gets from the gentle activity group she attends.
“It’s very hard to make friends when you’re on your own. You’re not quite sure who to trust. So going to the activity group is hugely important to me. Just meeting people has a positive impact.”
